Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards has been through a lot of shit in her life. We have seen her struggle with addiction, she has been recently caring for her dying ex husband montey, her battle with her sister Kyle Richards being featured on TV, her recent arrest and so much more, what a lot of people might now know is that Kim’s ex-fiancè was murdered.
According to new reports 19 years ago Kim’s ex fiance was killed, Kim was engaged to a salesman named John J. Collett. Avid watching of RHOBH may remember a scene from the hit reality show where Kim and Kyle went to their medium who channeled John.
“She loved him and he loved her and it was like a fairy tale,” his sister Nina Stormo, told PEOPLE magazine. “They seemed really happy.”
In October of 1991, John (her ex-fiance) was shot dead by a hit man outside a San Fernando Valley deli in what was a business scheme gone horribly wrong. Kim Richards had to identify the body, the magazine reports.
“It just tore her apart emotionally and she was not in good shape for a long time,” Collett’s mother Jan reveals. “She really loved John. They were a good match.”
Marva DeCarlo Johnson was sentenced in June of 1993 to 30-years-to-life after he was found guilty of the murder. Prosecutors presented evidence that it was a paid hit, but did not present evidence of who ordered it or why.
“Kim was always carrying around a lot of pain, subsequent to my son’s death,” Collett says. “I really cared for Kim. I thought she was a really good person with a good heart.”
