Dorinda Medley is the most recent addition to the Real Housewives of New York franchise, and rumors have come to light claiming that Dorinda may come between long-time friends Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan on season 7 of The Real Housewives of New York. During Tuesday night’s season premiere we where shown Ramona meeting up with Sonja for the first time since the collapse of her marriage to Mario Singer. The two actually start bickering a bit about whose divorce is worse after Sonja keeps bringing up her own divorce, in what was a completely comical moment!
After getting pissed off by her conversation with Sonja, Ramona opened her heart out to Dorinda, not just about Mario but also about how Sonja wouldn’t listen. A preview clip for the next episode shows Ramona, in her vacation home, giving Dorinda the room Sonja used to have, resulting in Sonja to joke that she’s been put in the dog house.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, posted on Wednesday, Dorinda said that she actually tries to be a mediator between the two women.
“What I try to be in that situation is be a mediator. I said one day, ‘Ramona, you’re barking. Sonja, you’re meowing. And both of you have no idea what you both are saying. You just got to both bark or both meow. You’re trying to talk to each other.’”
Dorinda, new comer to the Real Housewives of New York also explained why she decided to join The Real Housewives of New York City. She revealed that she had been approached years before to be on it but it wasn’t the right time. After her husband Richard died and her daughter Hannah went off to school, she figured she might as well take the challenge now that she was getting older.
Sonja Morgan, in her Bravo blog, bitched about Ramona Singer telling Dorinda Medley that she was a bad friend. Sonja pointed out that the circumstances of her lunch with Ramona, in a public restaurant, automatically meant that their conversation wouldn’t be as deep than if they had it in a private place. Sonja also explained that she brought up her own situation during her talk with Ramona because she thought it would be a bonding moment.
“I have to [say] I was hurt that she could share everything in private with Dorinda instead of meeting HER at restaurant as if she was her best friend when she never even had seen HER apartment before. I can’t tell you how many times Ramona has just dropped into my house and jumped into my bed or helped herself to my refrigerator and dropped in for dinner with my daughter. So to say I am narcissistic from that one isolated moment within a moment at lunch with her at a noisy restaurant is unfair. Furthermore, I don’t appreciate her telling Dorinda, who was just getting to know me better, that I’m not a good friend, because that’s simply not true.”
Sonja in no surpise threw Ramona under the bus aswell, reminding everyone that when she and the Countess LuAnn de Lesseps were going through their own divorces, Ramona suggested they were at fault. Sonja believes that perhaps now Ramona, humbled a bit, understands how men can be.
“I never felt that Ramona understood how painful it was to go through divorce, and she was very quick to judge and to say if Luann [de Lesseps] and I had done things properly (and anyone, in fact, that listens to marriage advice when she was bragging about her perfect marriage and life) we would still have a husband, and it just doesn’t work that way unfortunately. Men will be men no matter how great a wife or mother you are, as she’s finding out now.”
