Real Housewives of Melbourne star Gina Liano claims cyber stalker is destroying her

Gina Liano, breakout star from the Real Housewives of Melbourne just cant get enough drama in her life these days! Liano has prompted a police investigation after claiming a cyber stalker is hellbent on destroying her professional reputation.

The Real Housewives of Melbourne star said she became aware this week that someone had been posing as her online, creating three fake Google Plus pages to abuse fans and post comments that could damage her career.

The barrister and Cancer Council ambassador said the fake Gina had also made disparaging remarks about “taking down Eddie McGuire”, whom she had been working with on a Foxtel pilot series, tentatively called Judge Gina.

Ms Liano believes an old acquaintance with a history of violence and mental illness wants to “bring her down” because she is jealous of her new TV role.

She said the person appeared to be a staunch supporter of Andrea Moss — Ms Liano’s former co-star, whom she was famously embroiled in a bitter feud with last year — and may be acting out of misplaced loyalty to her.

Ms Liano said it seemed the stalker was trying to destroy her reputation so she was no longer a viable candidate to front Judge Gina, a series similar to the US show Judge Judy, in which Ms Liano would mediate real-life disputes.

Ms Liano said the person behind the campaign was someone with intimate knowledge of her personal and professional life and with enough computer savvy to cover their tracks and create a believable online presence.

“To be honest, it has unnerved me because this person has a history of violence,” she said.

“But I am not going to let it stop me living my life.”

Ms Liano said when her mobile number was made public and her fashion designer sister Bettina’s email was hacked she decided to report her concerns to Prahran police.

“This person is behaving like a terrorist; they are trying to create fear and chaos in my life,” she said.

“They are trying to portray me as a smoker, that I hate Eddie McGuire, that I am rude and disrespectful to my fans — all things that I am not.”

Liano said she had reached out to her Real Housewives co-stars and had their full support.

Police confirmed a complaint had been made and they were investigating whether an offence had been committed.
